The NFL Draft – Philly Style

We are almost here.  Thursday night is right around the corner and the Eagles will be selecting a player they feel will help this Franchise ascend to the next level.  During this week we usually see draft talk die down as teams keeps information in house.  We’ll see leaks here and there but what can we trust?  The short answer – none of it!  Rumors have been swirling about who the Eagles will take and who they won’t.  Is Joe Mixon on their board or is he off?  These are all questions we’ll get answers too in the next couple of days.

If you’re going to the draft here’s what you need to know:

The NFL Draft Experience opens Thursday from 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM with the actual Draft starting 8:00 PM.  If you’re a little late it’s ok, because we all know it will be 8:30 until the first pick is made.  Plan accordingly with traffic.  The Phillies play the Marlins at 1:05 PM and will let out around 4:30 PM.  There will be some congestion for sure.  If you’re going I would go early and plan to hang out during the day.  Friday the gates open and close at the same time however the draft will start at 7:00 PM.  Saturday the Draft wraps up.  The gates open at 10:00 AM and close at 6:00 PM.  The draft itself starts at 12:00 PM.

According the there are 3 gates you access for the draft.  Gate 1 – North 21st Street and Ben Franklin Parkway. Gate 2 – North 22nd Street and BFP and Gate 3 North 22nd Street and PA Drive.

If you’re from out of town you will definitely want to check out some of the other local spots Philly has to offer.  I’ll recommend getting a Cheesesteak for sure.  Yea we know Geno’s or Pats but if you want a really good one go to Dalessandro’s off of Wendover St.  It’s arguably the best around.  Don’t forget about the Art Museum, Independence Hall and of course the Liberty Bill.

I don’t agree with what the NFL does a lot of the time but moving the draft from city to city is perfect.  This is a really cool experience.  This is the first draft in the City of Philadelphia since 1961.
