Brian: COWBOYS 24, GIANTS 21
The Giants received a blow on the defensive side of the ball earlier this week as JPP will be out for the rest of the season. Dallas is also heading into Sunday night with extra rest after taking care of the Vikings last Thursday. Since the Week 1 loss at Jerry’s World the Cowboys haven’t lost a game which is absurd. The Giants on the other hand had their winning streak snapped last week as they were outclassed at Pittsburgh. I’m still not completely sold on the Giants as a playoff contender. The doubt for me lies with their offense rather than the defense. I’ll give the edge to the hot team who already lost to this opponent once.
Ryan: GIANTS 31, COWBOYS 23
This game is more important for the Giants than the Cowboys based on the teams current records. The Giants come into this game a little banged up after JPP recently had sports hernia surgery. If the Giants can make Dak Prescott beat them I like their chances. They have enough playmakers in the defensive backfield where they can make some plays. The Cowboys have the rest advantage. After playing last Thursday they have a full 10 days to prepare. It’s tough for NFC East teams to beat division opponents twice in one year but based on when and where this game is being played I’ll take the Giants .
Brian: PACKERS 21, SEAHAWKS 17
Green Bay has the benefit of Lambeau Field in this rematch of the NFC Championship game from a few years back. The Packers are still a very flawed football team, however they have righted the ship in the past two weeks to get back to .500. Aaron Rodgers can carry a team to the playoffs when he’s on his game as we saw on Monday Night Football. Seattle blew the doors off Carolina, but the win came at a costly price with Earl Thomas being lost for the season. The absence of Thomas for the entire Seattle defense is impossible to measure as he does everything so well. Russell Wilson and the Seahawks offense is a different group at home as evidenced by the 40 burger they hung on Carolina. Thomas Rawls has brought a physical style to the backfield reminiscent of Beast Mode. I still think Seattle is clearly the better team, but I’ll side with the Packers in a close one at home.
Ryan: SEAHAWKS 32, PACKERS 22
This will be Seattle’s first game sans Earl Thomas. I don’t think it matters. I think Mike McCarthy is an overrated head coach. This Packers team is flawed because of their inability to run the football. Rodgers has done a nice winning 2 tough games getting his team back in playoff contention. They will end all the W’s they can coming down the stretch. I expect this Seattle defense to beat up this GB offense. Finesse teams don’t farewell against Seattle.
Brian: PATRIOTS 27, RAVENS 23
These two AFC foes have squared off in the playoffs and regular season numerous times within the past decade. Almost all of those games turned out to be close affairs which I expect will be the case again this week in Foxboro. The Pats offense is going through a state of transition once again as Rob Gronkowski is officially lost for the season. Baltimore’s defense is a much stiffer challenge in comparison to the Rams bunch. John Harbaugh has displayed in the past he can coach with Belichick and will certainly have his team prepared to play on the road. However, the Ravens offense lacks the explosive playmakers I think is necessary to take advantage of the Patriots defense.
Ryan: PATRIOTS 25, RAVENS 17
The Ravens are playing some of the best football in the league. Their defense is doing a nice job keeping them in games giving their offense a chance to make plays. The Patriots are the Patriots. We all know what we are going to get from them. I don’t know if the Ravens offense can make enough plays against the Patriots defense. This games are always a blast to watch. Look for some outside the box formation. Watch for the referees because they usually deliberate over some wacky call in the 4th Q during these games.
Brian: REDSKINS 27, EAGLES 14
I’m not naïve enough to believe this week against the Redskins will be any different for the Eagles than the past couple weeks. This team is just not talented enough and there’s constantly news surrounding this team not related to football. That my fellow Eagles fans is not a recipe for winning a game in the NFL. I see no clear advantages that the Eagles hold over the Redskins making this pick pretty easy. You can only really hope for Wentz showing signs of regaining his early season form, and sprinkle in some flashes of Wendell Smallwood.
Ryan: REDSKINS 30, EAGLES 17
Both of these teams lost the previous week. Only one didn’t quit. That same team will win this game because I have no faith in the heart or guts of the home team, my team. I don’t expect the home field to benefit the Eagles. These fans deserve better. Quitting in this town is as bad as it gets.
