San Diego Chargers- DE Deforest Buckner (Oregon)
The Chargers will remain in San Diego for the 2016 season and I think Deforest Buckner from Oregon will be joining them. Buckner showed out in 2015 leading the Pac 12 with 10.5 sacks to go along with 17 tackles for loss. Scouts view him as the type of powerful 3-4 defensive end that can hold his own from day one in the NFL. Luckily, for San Diego they run a 3-4 defense with John Pagano and Buckner would have a great chance to start right away. Buckner would join Corey Liuget along with recently acquired Brandon Mebane who came over from Seattle in the offseason. Cardinals end Calais Campbell is the player comparison most attributed to Buckner because of his physical prowess. The pass rush potential from that position is the skill which potentially sets Buckner apart from most odd-man front ends. If the Chargers decided to bypass Buckner the next logical selection would be tackle Ronnie Stanley from Notre Dame. The Chargers offensive line has been the definition of a revolving door the past few seasons and Stanley could provide stability to the tackle position for the Bolts. However, I think Buckner is the pick here and San Diego can always address the offensive line with pick number 35 overall.
