Inside The NFC East – Week 12

As we march towards the end of the 2015 NFL season it looks more and more likely 9-7 will win the NFC East.  The Giants with virtue of their bye last week were the big winners.  With out playing a game they were able to increase there lead by a .5 game.  With a looming bout against the Redskins they can all but crush their playoff hopes with a victory.  The Eagles have self destructed and seem to be turning on each other.  Their season is going down hill fast.  Barring a miraculous turnaround and wins over both the Cards and Patriots their season is toast as well.  The Cowboys aren’t mathematically eliminated but have a very tough task after losing 7 straight games.  No team starting 2-7 has ever made the playoffs.  Let’s call it like it is – this division is the Giants and Giants alone to lose.  Can they hold on?

NFC East Standings

Giants 5-5 (DIV 2-2)

Redskins 4-6 (DIV 1-1)

Eagles 4-6 (DIV 2-2)

Cowboys 3-7 (DIV 2-2)

Philadelphia at Detroit – Ford Field 12:30 FOX Thanksgiving

See our game preview blog Wednesday.

Carolina at Dallas – AT&T Stadium 4:30 CBS Thanksgiving

The Cowboys aren’t mathematically eliminated yet but have a near impossible task of getting back in the playoff race.  They need to run the table and get some help along the way.  They tuned up for their annual Thanksgiving Game beating the Dolphins in week 11.  Tony Romo returned after breaking his collarbone in week 2.  They face an undefeated Panthers team.  The Panthers come into this game at 10-0.  After losing Kelvin Benjamin I said on our podcast there is no way they would even make the playoffs.  I was dead wrong and credit to a river boat Ron and that coaching staff.  Cam Newton is arguably an MVP candidate.  Although his numbers aren’t great he’s leading a 10-0 team so he must be considered.

There are 3 games on Thursday and I think this game will be the best of the 3.  This will be a close game, perhaps a back and forth down to the wire game.  Dallas has their QB back but that’s about all.  Carolina has a great defense and Cam is firing on all cylinders.  I expect Carolina to pull it out but it might take overtime.

New York at Washington – FedEx Field 1:00 FOX

This is an elimination game for the Redskins.  Like the Eagles last Sunday the Redskins got their faces kicked in by the Panthers.  They can’t afford to fall to 4-7.  Kirk Cousins has been a pleasant surprise for them this year but they are having trouble running the ball and their defense hasn’t been great.

The Giants are coming off a heart breaking loss to the Patriots.  A game they would have won had Landon Collins held onto a Brady INT a few plays before a Gostowski 50 yarder.  The Giants should come out firing on all cylinders.  They extended their lead last week and by beating the Redskins can really take a strangle hold of this division  I fully expect them to beat Washington Sunday and get 6-5.
