Inside the NFC East – Week 8

As we mentioned last week, what a difference a week makes.  The Eagles, after a win against the Giants went from worst to first.  After a week 7 loss to the Panthers they went from first to third and the Giants after a win against Dallas find themselves again on top.  Don’t get to used to the Standings.  They will change on a weekly basis.  Teams will shuffle from top to bottom from here on for the rest of the season.

NFC East Standings

Giants 4-3 (DIV 2-2)

Redskins 3-4 (DIV 1-1)

Eagles 3-4 (DIV 1-2)

Cowboys 2-4 (DIV 2-1)

New York Giants at New Orleans – Mercedes Benz Super Dome 1:00 FOX

The Giants are coming off a division win against the depleted Cowboys.  With a 4-3 record they face a Saints team Eagles fans are very familiar with.  Could this be a let down game for the Giants?  I believe there’s a good chance of that.  The Saints have put together a nice 2 game winning streak over the Falcons and Colts.  The Giants aren’t the best road team and the Dome can be a tough spot to play.

The Giants, like all NFC East teams are battling some injuries.  They have been hit on the defensive side of the ball in the LB and DB positions.  They will need all hands on deck to face Drew Brees who has turned back the clock the last few weeks playing much better.  Just a hunch but I like the Saints in this game and expect this to be a high scoring game.  Both teams struggle with pass defense.

Seattle at Dallas – AT&T Stadium 4:25 PM FOX

What a difference a year makes for both of these teams?  And not for the better.  It’s been well documented regarding the injuries for the Dallas Cowboys.  They might be getting their star WR back however.  Dez Bryant practiced today and there a remains a real possibility he plays Sunday.  Dallas has struggled and rightfully so losing 4 games in a row after both Bryant and Romo went down.

They face a Seattle team struggling in their own right.  The defending NFC Champs clearly aren’t the same.  They are coming off a 10 day break after beating 49ers last Thursday.  The Cowboys desperately need this game to remain competitive and in the NFC East race.  In my opinion this will be an ugly game.  In the end Seattle is healthier and the play of the QB (their own) will ultimately doom Dallas.
