Chip managed to alter his play calling which resulted in 39 points and a win against the Saints. This week will be much tougher against a division foe in the Giants. Sam Bradford has to be better in the red zone and eliminate these costly interceptions. The running backs looked much better especially DeMarco Murray due in large part to improved blocking from the offensive line. The pass protection was tremendous for Bradford. Drops are still plaguing this wide receiver core and Jordan Matthews is the main culprit for me.
Jason Peters vs. Cullen Jenkins
Peters managed to make it through last week without any further injury or really missing any action which is key. This week he’ll mostly be facing off with former Eagle Cullen Jenkins. Jenkins was part of “The Dream Team” Eagles and other than one hit against the Giants on Sunday Night he was a waste just like the rest of that free agent class that was signed. Peters is clearly a better player and Chip needs to continue to run at Jenkins to expose that matchup. I for one would like to see less sweep plays especially when Murray is the ball carrier. However, they were more effective last week some of which can be attributed to the Saints defensive woes. Peters should be able to protect Bradford’s blindside without much difficulty on Monday Night.
Player to Target: JT Thomas
Thomas plays the weakside for the G-Men who always seem to have mass injuries at the linebacker spot. Middle linebacker Jon Beason has been hurt for about the last seven years. He is a good player when he’s on the field. Thomas has bounced around a few times since entering the league in 2011. He is an average linebacker at best in my opinion. The Eagles should target him in the passing game if they can matchup Ertz or one of the running backs on Thomas.
Jordan Matthews vs. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
Matthews had a really impressive Week 1 against Atlanta with double digit catches, but since that point he’s been dropping passes left and right. I understand drops will happen and Matthews is still young. However, he came into the league with question marks concerning his drops and he’s not helping his case with these recent struggles. DRC is another former Eagle coming back to play his former team once again. Him and cornerback Prince Amukamara took a photo before the Sunday Night game last year which bit them in the ass after the Giants were the ones being shut out. Amukamara is reportedly banged up and might be questionable for Monday Night. I expect DRC to line up a lot with Matthews since he has the size to matchup with the Eagles most physical wideout. Corner Trumaine McBride is also nagged by a groin injury which may keep him out.
