Inside The NFC East – Week 5

Who will be the team to beat in the NFC East?  At some point during the season one of these teams will separate themselves from the pack.  Injuries have taken their tole on the Cowboys and recently the Eagles.  These guys will need to be healthy to help in  late season run for each team.

NFC East Standings

Dallas 2-2 (DIV 2-0)

New York 2-2 (DIV 1-1)

Washington 2-2 (DIV 1-1)

Philadelphia 1-3 (DIV 0-2)

Washington at Atlanta – Georgia Dome 1:00 FOX

The Skins’ are coming off of a come from behind win against the Eagles Sunday at Fed Ex Field.  A win got them to 2-2 and right back in the thick of the NFC East race.  They face a tough task in Atlanta against the Falcons.  The Falcons are one team I was completely wrong about.  They couldn’t have started any better with a 4-0 record.

The Redskins have been up and down this season.  From week to week you’re not sure what Kirk Cousins you will get.  He often struggles on the road.  I expect an interception or 2 with the Falcons getting this one and improving to 5-0.  This game will not be a blow out.  I expect this to be a close game through 4 quarters.

New England at Dallas – AT&T Stadium 4:25 CBS

The Dallas Cowboys are absolutely decimated with injuries.  With all those injuries they almost beat the Saints last Sunday night.  What they desperately need is a bye.  There might be so good news (bad news for the rest of the East) as Dez  Bryant might be back on the field sooner than expected.  It was reported he might be back for week 7.  The last team the Cowboys want to face in their current condition is the Patriots.

This one could get ugly.  With all the players Dallas doesn’t have, there’s just no way they can hang with the Patriots.  Arguably the best team in the league with the best coach they will scheme and have an answer for everything the Cowboys do.

San Francisco at New York – Metlife Stadium 8:30 NBC

The 49ers are one of the worst teams in the league.  I don’t see any way in their current state they can travel across the country and beat the Giants in prime time.  The Giants did a great job salvaging their season and getting back to .500 at 2-2.  An argument could be made they are the team to beat in the East.

Much like last weeks Saints/Cowboys match up I don’t believe this will be a great game.  The Giants like to win ugly, however a win is a win.  I expect a score in the range of 24-14 in favor of big blue.
