During the Eagles first preseason game they honored Frank LeMaster as an Eagles Alumni and Honorary Captain to start the game.
Frank LeMaster played in an Eagles uniform from 1974 to 1982. Although he played a year or so past the 1980 Super Bowl, that game was the highlight of his career and rightfully so. Born March 12, 1952 LeMaster played his college ball at the University of Kentucky. Drafted by the Eagles in the 4th round of the 1974 draft he played 129 career games starting 115.
LeMaster was an outstanding coverage linebacker. He was athletic enough to cover TE’s and RB’s out of the backfield and downfield. He finished his career with 10 INTs returning 2 for scores including an 89 yarder. Frank LeMaster played alongside of Bill Bergey (who we covered earlier) and formed one of the best LB duos the Eagles ever had. LeMaster was voted to one Pro Bowl during his career following the 1981 season.
We will continue our alumni series for another couple of weeks. Once the regular season starts (it seriously can’t come soon enough) we will focus primarily on game related content.
