Alumni Focus: Byron Evans

Byron Evans played with the Eagles from 1987 – 1994.  He was a member of the famous “gang green” defense.  This defense was known for hounding opposing QB’s and forcing turnovers.  Evans was often forgotten however he was a key member of this defense.  Forgotten not because of his play but who he was playing with.  Byron Evans was over shadowed by Reggie White, Jerome Brown, Clyde Simmons and Seth Joyner just to name a few.

The Eagles selected Evans in the fourth round of the 1987 draft from the University of Arizona.  In 8 years with the Eagles he played in 97 games, had 3.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, 13 INTs returning 1 for a score and 9 passes defensed.

Byron Evans resides in Arizona with his 3 kids.  He is very active in the community and is currently employed as a physical education teacher at an Arizona Prep School.
